Job Title: HPC – MEH NSSS Methods Engineer
Department: Engineering / Construction Methods
Location: Onsite / Project Site
Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

The HPC - MEH NSSS Methods Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting construction methodologies for the erection, installation, and commissioning of MEH (Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC) systems within the NSSS (Nuclear Steam Supply System) scope at the HPC project.
The role ensures all methods and procedures are safe, efficient, compliant, and aligned with nuclear industry standards, supporting project execution teams throughout all phases of construction.

Key Responsibilities

1. Construction Methods & Planning

  • Develop detailed construction methodologies, work sequences, task sheets, and procedures for MEH NSSS activities.
  • Provide engineering support for installation of piping systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and HVAC components.
  • Define resource, tooling, lifting, and temporary works requirements.
  • Support constructability reviews and propose technical solutions to optimize field execution.

2. Technical Support to Site Teams

  • Provide technical guidance to supervisors, planners, and field engineers during installation activities.
  • Review and validate method statements, risk assessments, and installation records.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues encountered on-site and propose corrective actions.

3. Interface & Coordination

  • Coordinate with engineering teams, construction managers, quality, safety, planners, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure alignment between design documentation and practical construction needs.
  • Participate in interface meetings and support resolution of design or site constraints.

4. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all construction methods comply with nuclear safety requirements, site license conditions, and project specifications.
  • Contribute to ALARP reviews, hazard identification, and safety assessments.
  • Support quality documentation including ITPs, weld procedures, inspection plans, and nuclear traceability requirements.

5. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in construction sequencing, tooling, and workflows.
  • Capture lessons learned and integrate them into future method statements.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or related discipline).
  • 3–8 years of experience in construction methods engineering, ideally in nuclear, energy, heavy industrial, or large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of MEH systems and knowledge of NSSS components (piping, valves, pumps, supports, heat exchangers, etc.).
  • Experience preparing method statements, work instructions, and construction task sheets.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety culture and regulated industry standards.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in planning tools and engineering software (e.g. Navisworks, CAD tools).
  • Excellent communication and coordination capabilities.
  • Strong HSE mindset and adherence to nuclear safety principles.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on HPC / EDF / Nuclear New Build projects.
  • Knowledge of UK nuclear regulations and CDM requirements.
  • Understanding of Welding, Piping Installation, Lifting Operations, and Electrical Installation methodologies.

Why Join

  • Opportunity to work on one of the world’s largest and most complex nuclear construction projects.
  • High-impact role contributing directly to safe and efficient field execution.
  • Collaborative environment with strong emphasis on innovation and safety.
